RE: Ants have taken over

One way to kill them if you do get them in your trailer is to spray them with Windex. It kills them without insecticide- if you can find their trail and spray a few feet of it, that will keep them from coming back too.

We are currently getting a Backpackers magazine that I know I never signed up for, nor did dh. I wonder if that is how we got it.

Joshua Tree- Cottonwood

Does anyone know if I can make advanced reservations at Cottonwood campground in Joshua Tree? We'd like to go over Presidents weekend and I'd rather stay there than at Black Rock.

RE: Hard Rear Slide Owners... Report, Please!

We traded our Roo 233 in for a Roo 25RS and we absolutely love it. Dh is only 5'11" though and has no trouble fitting. It would be nice to have a walk around bed but when trying to conserve space, you can't have everything. Set up is so much quicker and easier and with the side slide there is a ton of inside room.

RE: Utah from CA, Looking for a pull off spot south of Las Vegas

Dianaw- It's too hot to stay in the parking lot this time of the year, even if it's free. Looks like we may just get up early and drive all the way to Kanab, UT. We are leaving from the San Fernando Valley (LA), where are you leaving from?
Dave
We drove from North San Diego county to Cedar City UT and it took us 8 1/2 hrs plus stops and that is towing no faster than 62 mph. We ran into the same problem, there isn't anywhere south of Cedar City that will be cool enough to stay without electricity. Cedar City is just north of Kanab. You should be able to make it straight through.

RE: Fish Tacos

I make fish tacos but my recipe is a bit simpler. I take orange roughy, tilapia, trout or whatever white fish I have. Cook in butter and olive oil with salt, pepper, onion and garlic powder until done.
Serve in corn tortillas with packaged broccoli slaw (instead of shredded cabbage) and chipotle sauce.
Sauce: mayo, lime juice, chipotle chili powder and chopped cilantro. Start with the mayo, add a bit of lime juice and then chili powder to taste. Then add cilanto. Serve over the tacos.

RE: What are you pulling with your Chevy Trailblazer?

We pull a Roo 25RS- about 5000lbs loaded with an Envoy XL 5.3L V8. Equalizer hitch. We've pulled it up and down mountains (Rockies and Sierras) and never had a problem. Up a very big hill and it will run around 4000 RPMs. On flat surfaces around 1500 RPMs.

RE: Hard Slide

Think of it as a square/rectangle thing. A square is a rectangle but a rectangle isn't necessarily a square.
A hybrid is an expandable but an expandable isn't necessarily a hybrid. I would call them cousins though. I find the hybrid forum pertains more to the rear slide than does the regular travel trailer forum. There are so many different type of travel trailers but the scope of the expandable is much more narrow and includes the rear slide and hybrid. Why else are the rear slides part of the Rockwood Roo line (along with the hybrids) vs. any of their other travel trailer lines.

RE: Hard Slide

We had a Roo 233 hybrid for about a year and traded for a Roo 25RS. The tent ends were a pain to set up and down, especially for just an overnight. We LOVE our 25RS. The queen bed slides out the back and there is a sofa side slide. We only have a family of 4 and there is plenty of room.

RE: 4runner towing 23 footer?

We tow a ROO 25RS with a V8 Envoy. We went on a 3000 mi trip this summer from SoCal to Yellowstone and it towed great. I don't think we ever once thought that we needed more truck for the trailer.

RE: Best trout recipe

I made trout for the first time ever last week. I sauteed them with butter and olive oil, sprinkled with salt, pepper, onion powder and garlic. Delicious.

RE: 3,722 miles later

We just got back from a 2891 mile trip to Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons. We stayed in West Yellowstone- though I would recommend a few days there and a few days maybe at Fishing Bridge to cut down on the driving through the park. If you are staying in the park I would make reservations NOW for next summer. I was able to change to Grizzly RV about a month beforehand and they still had space. Coulter Bay RV had openings when we were there. Pretty much all of Yellowstone was booked.

air conditioner

We just got back from our 3rd trip in our Roo 25RS. We took a 12 day trip to Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons. We did an overnight in southern Utah and had to run the a/c pretty much all night. We've used the a/c before, but not extensively. Is the a/c supposed to have condensation dripping from it? Our previous Roo did but this one does not. When it turns off, you can hear water gurgling and when it turns on at first, there is a musty, slight moldy smell which goes away after about 30 seconds. The a/c works fine- cold air and all but no condensation dripping. I was wondering if I have a problem or not.

RE: Yellowstone Camping

You might be able to get reservations at Fishing Bridge. I am going to cancel some today for 7/29 - 8/1. We decided to stay at Grizzly Rv in West Yellowstone instead. I was able to get reservations there too. I think there have been alot of cancelations.

RE: weather - Yellowstone and Grand Tetons

Stayed at RV from 6/12-17 this year. Snowed on the 11th 6" 70's to upper 70's during the day would drop to the 30's at night. Nice RV park and the town was nice to walk around or ride your bikes. Enjoy your trip hope your day temps are higher since you are later in the summer!
I hope you're right. We're originally from the midwest but living in SoCal has made us a bit wimpy with the cooler temps.
